Snow Days

It’s February in the Midwest, a time of snow, wind and subzero temps.

That means there will be a few snow days when getting to school is just too hard. Some schools are still in session remotely. Do they need snow days, too? You bet.

Play is the necessary counterpart to work, to schoolwork. One rejuvenates teachers and students alike for the other. If sitting at a desk (whether at home or in school) is studying, then play needs to be away from that regiment. Play needs to be books, art projects, building snowmen, music, puzzles, dress-up, board games, skating, skiing. Play at any age is just as vital as all that sitting and studying.

What have you been doing so far this winter? Work, housecleaning, cooking? Breakout the holiday gifts (that are now all of two months old). Join the fun.

Snow days aren’t just for the kids. Give yourself a snow day, too.
